Re: Why is email writing so hard?

Email writing is HARD.
When I'd just started writing emails, coming
up with ideas was a pain in the butt.
I'd open my laptop, put on some dance music
and stare at the cursor.
I'd write half a sentence... then I'd delete it
because I thought it was stupid.
So I tried again.
And again.
And again.
Each time, writing a few words, maybe a sentence,
perhaps a paragraph... always questioning and doubting
myself... wondering if what I'd written was any good.
Such is the life of a writer.
Do you struggle with writing?
Have you ever written something, deleted it, tried again,
deleted it, over and over and over again... before banging
your computer shut and taking a break?
It's ok.
It's normal.
But it doesn't have to be that way.
This email I'm writing now?
Took me less than 15 mins.
No fumbling around at the beginning.
I sat down and started to write.
If you want to do the same, here's what
you gotta do:
#1 - Set a timer for 15 mins
#2 - Have ONE idea that you're going to write about
#3 - Sit down and WRITE fast (ignore the editor inside
your head)
#4 - Aim to write the email in 15 mins
Why the timer?
Because with only 15 minutes, you don't have time
to edit the email.
But doesn't that mean your email is rushed
and crappy?
No.
See, once the timer is finished and the email is
done, you stop and edit your email.
Editing shouldn't take more than 5 or 10 mins.
Then you're done.
HOW EASY WAS THAT?
Give it a try.
The method works.
See ya
